A Journey from the Cradle to the Crown

Join the Foursquare Gospel Church every Sunday in 2026 as we explore the breathtaking arc of Christ’s journey—from humble servant to cosmic Sovereign. Discover what it means to live in the reality of His exalted reign today.

The Heart of Our Celebration: From Humility to Supreme Exaltation

Our 2026 series is anchored in one of the most profound passages in Scripture: Philippians 2:5-11. This passage reveals the stunning paradox at the core of our faith—the path to the highest throne led through the deepest humility.

The apostle Paul sets before us the ultimate example: Jesus Christ, who, though existing in the very form and essence of God, did not cling to His divine privileges. Instead, He “emptied Himself” (in the kenosis), taking on the nature of a servant and becoming human. His obedience was so complete that it led to the most shameful death possible—death on a cross.

But the story does not end at the cross. Precisely because of this perfect humility and obedience, God the Father super-exalted Him. The Greek term used means He was “hyper-exalted,” lifted to the highest possible position of honor and authority. The Father bestowed upon the crucified and risen Jesus “the name which is above every name”—the sovereign title of LORD (Kyrios).

The Universal Confession: Every Knee, Every Tongue

The purpose of this exaltation is breathtaking in its scope: so that every being in all creation will acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord.

  • In heaven: Angels and the spirits of glorified saints worship Him.
  • On earth: Every human being, both the redeemed and the unredeemed, will bow.
  • Under the earth: The dead and spiritual powers will be forced to submit to His authority.

This universal acknowledgment fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah 45:23, where Yahweh declares that to Him alone every knee shall bow. By applying this text to Jesus, the New Testament affirms His divine sovereignty. Every tongue will confess His lordship, whether in loving worship or in compelled recognition of His supreme authority. This is the ultimate goal—the glory of God the Father.

What This Means for Us Today

This truth is not merely a future hope but a present reality that transforms how we live:

  • Our Model for Life: We are called to have the “mind of Christ”—a mindset of selfless humility and service to others, following the path He walked.
  • Our Confident Hope: We serve a King who is currently reigning, to whom all authority in heaven and on earth has been given. His kingdom is eternal and unshakable.
  • Our Unshakable Purpose: Like the Apostle Paul, our central aim becomes to exalt Christ in our bodies, making Him greater in our own hearts and in the eyes of the world around us.
